With more than 700 wind and photovoltaic projects still awaiting authorization, Puglia confirms itself as one of the Italian regions with the highest number of stalled renewable energy installations. This was highlighted by Pasquale Guastamacchia in an interview published in Nuovo Quotidiano di Puglia.

During the interview, the General Director of Guastamacchia S.p.A. points out that the renewable energy sector is still hindered by extremely long permitting procedures, a shortage of staff in the relevant administrative offices, and continuous regulatory changes.

He also draws attention to emblematic cases, such as a project launched in 2007 that has still not been completed, despite having received a favorable Environmental Impact Assessment.

According to the interview, this situation reflects an administrative complexity that slows down the energy transition and disadvantages structured operators active in the region.

The issue of bureaucracy is also intertwined with the debate on land consumption. Renewable energy infrastructures, Guastamacchia further emphasizes, have a temporary and reversible impact and should also be seen as opportunities for territorial regeneration and the enhancement of existing assets.
